TRANSFORMATION OF TWO APARTMENTS INTO A BEAUTIFUL HOME

A Dorset clifftop apartment transformation that combined two separate residences into one coherent home at Friars Cliff. Dream Design developed the complete home design, with spatial planning, structural reconfiguration, and interior specification resolved in parallel so the layout supports modern living and the coastal setting.

The brief was to preserve the views and natural light while creating a calm, practical plan with clear circulation and consistent detailing across kitchen, living, and private spaces.

Kitchen, Dining, and Lounge Areas
The wall between the kitchen and dining/lounge areas was removed to form a bright, dual-aspect open-plan kitchen-diner-living space. Structure was carried by a vertical steel support beam, which was discreetly clad and aligned with surrounding junctions so the intervention reads as intentional rather than imposed.

Whitewashed ash wood-effect porcelain flooring runs throughout to maintain material continuity, paired with matching internal doors and staircase finishes. SieMatic SLX cabinetry in Hamptons blue is balanced with porcelain surfaces: marble-effect cladding to the hob wall and window surrounds, and light grey stone-effect porcelain to the island fronts and worktop. The result is a composed palette with crisp set-outs and a durable finish suited to coastal life.

Principal Bedroom and Ensuite
A panelled feature wall in vertical fluted bronze with mirrored strips conceals sliding panels, revealing a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite shower room while keeping the main elevation quiet and ordered.

Blue tones from the statement headboard wallpaper are carried into the leather bed, side tables, and swivel armchairs, maintaining a cohesive, restful palette. A bespoke rug, patterned with a subtle reference to sand viewed from the balcony, anchors the room and ties the interior back to its landscape.

This project reflects Dream Design’s wider approach to kitchen design and interior architecture, where proportion, circulation, and long-term coherence guide every decision.
