The Handleless Kitchen

The Handleless Kitchen

The SieMatic 6006 kitchen range debuted in 1960 presenting a new style of furniture. The first kitchen in the world with integrated, recessed handle channels….. thus the handless kitchen was born.

Innovation and technical developments have seen many refinements to the recessed channel over the years, which can now be colour matched to the cabinet doors or finished to contrast and accentuate the detail.

Here the recess channels have been colour matched to the cabinet fronts, which blend subtly with the work surfaces, allowing the hand decorated Penshell panels to take centre stage.
POLISHED NICKEL RECESS CHANNELS
POLISHED NICKEL RECESS CHANNELS
Polished Nickel has been selected for the recess channels in this composition to contrast elegantly with the white gloss lacquered cabinet fronts and white ceramic work surfaces.
GOLD BRONZE RECESS CHANNELS
GOLD BRONZE RECESS CHANNELS
Sophisticated elegance is the hallmark of this kitchen, achieved through material and colour selection. Graphite Grey veneer, Gold Bronze recessed channels and Ceramic Storm Negro work surfaces.
INCONSPICUOUS RECESS CHANNELS
INCONSPICUOUS RECESS CHANNELS
Ceramic Pietra Di Luna island top and Pebble Grey cabinet fronts create a striking contrast to the sophisticated Smoked Oak veneer employed on the breakfast bar and surrounding glass cabinet fronts.

The Handleless kitchen has Bauhaus DNA. Less is more – this was the motto of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, an advocate of minimalism in architecture. What is less complicated is often better understood and appreciated than what is more complicated. Simplicity is preferable to complexity, less is more.
