03 Jun The Flexform Story

If Flexform was a couture brand, it would sit comfortably amongst Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci and Prada. The exquisite furniture collection oozes a refined confident style that is quintessentially Italian.
Everyone that makes the yearly pilgrimage to Salone del Mobile. Milano, can see that style is in the company’s DNA . From the minute the doors open the stand is bursting at the seams with excited visitors, but there is never a hair out of place on the immaculate men and woman who represent the brand. In the private dealer area, elevated above the whole stand, the hospitality is exemplary and whilst sipping a glass of prosecco or espresso and discussing the latest novelties, I always find myself thinking how honoured I am to be a part of such an incredible heritage.
The story started when the Flexform Galimberti workshop was founded by the Galimberti brothers in the manufacturing region of Brianza in 1959, during the great flourishing of Italian design that shaped the era.
The third-generation family business, has retained its manufacturing base in Brianza and so continues to benefit from the local talent pool of craftsmen and woman who possess the necessary expertise – skills passed down from one generation to the next, to ensure the continuation of quality that the company and “Made in Italy” stamp demand. Leather, wood, linen, cotton, cashmere, goose-down and other materials are all carefully sourced from neighbouring suppliers where possible.
Innovation and Comfort
Over the years Flexform has collaborated with some of Italy’s most prominent designers, and its long-running creative partnership with Antonio Citterio has helped shape the company into one of the world’s most desirable furniture brands. Elegant but never showy, contemporary yet timeless, Flexform furnishings feel more relevant than ever to clients, who are favouring refined design over conspicuous consumption. One of the first companies to recognise that modern life was changing the way we use our living spaces, Flexform is renowned for cleverly designed sectional sofas that can be customised to fit each owner’s space and needs. It’s where you put your feet up after a long day. Where you catch up with the latest box set. Where you check your emails. Where you unwind with a good book. Where you grab a bite to eat. Offering total flexibility, the collection is conceived for everyday use within todays homes.

The benchmark of modular sofas – Antonio Citterio transformed the very concept of the sofa, when designing the Groundpiece. It is low and deep, offering a more relaxed, casual approach to seating. Groundpiece embodies the quintessence of Flexform comfort and is exceptionally inviting, thanks to the amply-sized goose-down cushions. Signature elements are the leather bookcase armrest and the bolster roll cushion for extra back support. The Romeo Sofa
The Romeo sofa is testament to Flexform’s ability to marry understated elegance with the utmost in comfort. Thanks to the perfect inclination of the seat and the generously goose-down-filled cushions. The Romeo sofa’s delicate lines, proportions and details attest to the company’s artisan expertise. Once again, Antonio Citterio has employed the bolster roll cushion, other signature elements are the tapered cast aluminium feet and subtle grosgrain piping. The Mood Collection
The Flexform Mood collection is inspired by yesteryear. Offering an alternative look, whilst adhering to the Flexform philosophy. Classic lines with premium materials and luxurious fabrics. Typified by the seriously sophisticated Alfred sofa collection. Couture details highlight Alfred’s soft silhouette. In this composition the flowing arm element is partnered with the curved corner element and chaise longue to create a simply stunning sofa. The Outdoor Collection
Flexform’s Outdoor collection is characterised by the same sophisticated style and attention to detail that’s embedded in its interior collections. The informal, timeless elegance and unrivalled comfort that have consistently distinguished Flexform’s interior product ranges, are reflected in a collection of beautiful outdoor furnishings. Products of the highest quality and durability, that will grace any terrace, garden room or yacht deck.Home Sweet Home
The Sveva armchair is designed by Carlo Colombo and demonstrates the vast depth to the Flexform collection. The sinuous, enveloping lines are formed in a rigid structural polyurethane, which is then skilfully covered in saddle hide, to accommodate the soft, goose down filled seat and back cushion, upholstered in leather or removable fabric covers. The cast aluminium swivel base is available with satin, chrome, burnished, black chrome or champagne finish.Effortless Style best describes the essence of Flexform collections. Serene, relaxing, understated spaces with rare accents of colour, illuminated by linen, cotton and cashmere fabrics in a subtly-balanced “Morandi palette” of neutral tones like ivory and sand, warm greys, champagne and burnished metal hues, and leathers in shades of cowhide, tobacco, honey and dove grey.
