As the new year approaches, I take a look at some of my favourite innovations from 2020.
SIEMATIC SLX KITCHEN
As the inventor of the handle-free kitchen, SieMatic faced a formidable challenge: how to improve an iconic design, originally conceived in 1960.The SLX collection pays homage to the 6006 range and introduces a host of innovations to celebrate the 60th anniversary. Simplicity, taken one step further and interpreted for our times.
The unbelievable lightness inherent to the new SLX kitchen is especially apparent in the luminous glass cabinets, when finished with the optional glass side panels. The back panels can be refined with a herringbone veneer, a mirrored surface, or one of the SieMatic SLX PURE veneers or lacquers.

MOLTENI&C GLISS MASTER WARDROBE
Gliss Master, the wardrobe system designed by MDT and Vincent Van Duysen, is constantly evolving to offer new and prestigious design solutions for contemporary living. 2020 marked the introduction of new external and internal finishes, doors with new handles and some internal fittings designed to improve the functionality and the design of the system. Notably, the sophisticated sloping glass shoe shelves with integrated LED lighting.
FLEXFORM GREGORY SOFA
The Flexform Gregory is the latest sofa collection to be designed by Antonio Citterio, building on the successful partnership that has spanned over two decades. Gregory’s distinctive stand out feature is the exposed metal frame that is beautifully adorned with tailor-finished cowhide strips. The sophisticated construction details allow the structure to blend or contrast with the cowhide detailing and portray a sofa with a bold personality.
ANTONIO LUPI FONTE WASHBASIN
An amazing sustainable basin, designed by Gumdesign. Fonte is made entirely from recycled marble. To lessen the environmental impact, only portions of marble recovered from other processes are used and not whole blocks. Twenty-four wedges of marble are glued together by black epoxy resin to create a dramatic, eye-catching basin.
CATTELAN ITALIA LATITUDE
A versatile bookcase, Latitude can be stacked, placed side by side, fixed to the wall or free standing (when fitted with the optional ballast). Perfect configured as a console table behind a sofa, this modular system is available in titanium or bronze embossed lacquered steel.
CONTARDI G&T PORTABLE BATTERY LAMP
Thanks to the optional accessories, the G&T portable battery lamp can be clipped to the back of an armchair, fixed to a table or attached to the wall to provide an ideal lighting solution wherever you are. A key detail of the G+T is the magnet that can be affixed to metal surfaces and magnetic brackets.Good design can have a big impact on our quality of life.
